Street Style: Romantic Ruffles at West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK!

Friday, September 23, 2016

I love dressing up, in fact I feel happiest when I'm dressed to kill in a fabulously co-ordinated ensemble! My everyday wardrobe consists of stylish dresses and chic suits, however my favourite time of year is FASHIONWEEK as you can really experiment with your personal style and go for something really dramatic and bold!

This was one of my favourite looks from last season at West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK and is bang on trend for this Autumn/Winter too, with the likes of Gucci and Fendi embracing the dramatic narrative ruffles create within an ensemble! Maximalism is here, and it's here to stay, but this outfit is an example of how to do it in a chic and understated way! Yes, it's a contradiction in terms but that's the beauty of fashion, it's all about your own personal interpretation of the trends, and making them work for your own personal style aesthetic!

This statement dress from Karen Millen is full of texture and pintuck frills, but it's muted neutral tone keeps it classic and somewhat understated, which is why I loved it so much! The ruffle theme was carried through my look with my amazing embellished waterfall ruffle sandals also from Karen Millen, topped off with luxurious pearls in pastel colours and a statement luxe tote bag by Jasper Conran.

Every girl needs a classic blazer and I just love this one from George at Asda! It's faux leather lapels give it a welcome play on textures and a sleek, luxe feel which acts as the perfect juxtaposition to the feminine feel of the dress! My preferred way to wear it is slung casually over the shoulders, which for a petite girl like myself is a great way to wear this look!

Ruffles are once again massive for AW16 and it's a trend which is bound to make a comeback to the West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK catwalk this October! So watch out as this is only the beginning of the ruffle revolution!!
